2.1 Information You Provide
- Account Information: Name, email address, and profile details provided during registration
- Authentication Data: Login credentials managed through Clerk (our authentication provider). We do not store passwords directly
- Trading Account Credentials: MetaTrader account connection details (server, login ID) for trade synchronization. These are encrypted at rest and in transit
- Journal Entries: Trade notes, tags, emotions, and other journal content you create
- Profile Settings: Trading preferences, timezone, currency, trading rules, and display settings
- Community Content: Messages, posts, and shared content in chat rooms and lounges
- Payment Information: Billing details processed through Stripe. We do not store full payment card numbers
- Feedback and Support: Messages sent through our feedback and support channels
2.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Trading Data: Positions, trade history, account balance, equity, and performance metrics synced from your MetaTrader accounts via MetaAPI
- Usage Data: Pages visited, features used, session duration, and interaction patterns
- Device Information: Browser type, operating system, device type, and screen resolution
- Session Data: IP address (for security and session management), login times, and active session tracking
- Performance Data: Application errors and performance metrics to improve service reliability
2.3 Information from Third Parties
- Google Authentication: If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email, and profile picture from Google
- MetaAPI: Trading data, account information, and connection status from your linked MetaTrader accounts
- Affiliate Referrals: Referral codes and affiliate association data if you signed up through a referral link
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide the Service: Display your trades, generate analytics, maintain your journal, and enable community features
- Sync Trading Data: Connect to your MetaTrader accounts and synchronize trade data in real-time

- Convex: Real-time database hosting and data storage
- Clerk: Authentication, user identity management, and session handling
- Stripe: Payment processing and subscription management
- MetaAPI: MetaTrader account connectivity and trade data retrieval
- Vercel: Application hosting and deployment infrastructure
- OpenAI/Anthropic: AI model providers for generating trade analysis reports (anonymized trading data only; no personal identifiers are sent)
4.2 Community Features
When you participate in community features (chat rooms, lounges, leaderboards), certain information is visible to other users:
- Your display name and profile picture
- Messages and content you post in public channels
- Leaderboard rankings and performance metrics (if you opt in)
- Shared trade cards and analysis you choose to share
4.3 Legal Requirements
We may disclose your information if required by law, legal process, or government request, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of TradeFXBook, our users, or the public.
4.4 Business Transfers
In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change and any choices you may have regarding your information.
5. Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data:
- Encryption: All data is encrypted in transit (TLS/HTTPS) and sensitive data is encrypted at rest
- Access Controls: Role-based access controls limit who can access user data internally
- Authentication Security: Multi-factor authentication support, secure session management via Clerk
- MetaTrader Credentials: Account connection details are encrypted and stored securely; we never access your broker funds or execute trades
- Payment Security: Payment data is handled exclusively by Stripe (PCI DSS compliant); we never see or store full card numbers
- Infrastructure: Hosted on enterprise-grade cloud infrastructure with regular security updates
- Monitoring: Active monitoring for unauthorized access attempts and security anomalies
While we strive to protect your data, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security but are committed to promptly addressing any security incidents.
6. Data Retention
We retain your data as follows:
- Account Data: Retained as long as your account is active. Deleted upon account closure
- Trading Data: Retained as long as your account is active to provide historical analytics
- Journal Entries: Retained until you delete them or close your account
- Community Content: Chat messages and posts are retained as part of community history. Upon account deletion, your content may be anonymized rather than deleted to preserve conversation context
- Payment Records: Retained as required by tax and financial regulations (typically 7 years)
- Usage Analytics: Aggregated, anonymized analytics data may be retained indefinitely for service improvement
- Session Logs: Security and session logs are retained for up to 90 days
7. Your Rights and Choices
You have the following rights regarding your data:
7.1 Access and Portability
You can access your trading data, journal entries, and analytics at any time through the Service. You may request a copy of your personal data by contacting us.
7.2 Correction
You can update your profile information, settings, and journal entries directly through the Service.
7.3 Deletion
You can delete your account through the Profile settings in the app. This will permanently remove your personal data, trading data, and journal entries. Certain data may be retained as required by law or for legitimate business purposes (fraud prevention, legal compliance).
7.4 Communication Preferences
You can manage notification preferences in your profile settings. Service-critical communications (security alerts, Terms changes) cannot be opted out of while your account is active.
7.5 MetaTrader Connection
You can disconnect your MetaTrader accounts at any time through the Account Manager. This stops further data synchronization. Previously synced data remains in your account unless you delete it.
8. Cookies and Tracking
We use the following types of cookies and similar technologies:
- Essential Cookies: Required for authentication, session management, and core functionality. Cannot be disabled
- Preference Cookies: Store your settings like theme preference (dark/light mode), timezone, and display options
- Affiliate Cookies: Track referral codes for affiliate attribution (30-day duration)
- Analytics: We use Vercel Analytics for basic page view and performance metrics
We do not use third-party advertising cookies or sell data to advertisers.
9. AI-Powered Features
Our AI report and analysis features process your trading data to generate insights. Regarding AI processing:
- Trading data sent to AI providers is anonymized – no personal identifiers (name, email, account numbers) are included
- AI providers do not retain your trading data after processing
- AI-generated content is for informational purposes only and does not constitute financial advice
- You can choose not to use AI features; they are optional
10. Children's Privacy
The Service is not intended for individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that we have collected data from a child under 18, we will take steps to delete such information promptly. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
11. International Data Transfers
Your data may be stored and processed in the United States or other countries where our service providers maintain facilities. By using the Service, you consent to the transfer of your information to these locations. We ensure that data transfers comply with applicable data protection laws and that appropriate safeguards are in place.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy on this page and updating the “Effective Date” above. For significant changes, we will provide additional notice via email or in-app notification.
